Race Report from Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Race Report - 4-3-10


We had six people show up for 1/32 scale slot car racing this Saturday night at Fine Scale Hobbies. Here is the staring grid: Gary, Rick, Steve, Paul, Chuck, and Joe. We ran 15 lap heats.


Here’s the run down:


Vintage F1 – Gary showed his driving finesse in this class and took the win with 27 points, controlling his red Ferrari 375 for two heat wins. Rick and Chuck tied for second place at 23 points each, Rick with one heat win using his red Ferrari 375, and Chuck piloting his green Cooper Climax with a custom flame job. Paul took the third tier on the podium at 19 points, using his green Cooper Climax winning two heats. Steve won one heat with his red Ferrari 156 F1.

Class points – Gary 27, Rick 23, Steve 18, Paul 19, Chuck 23, Joe 16


Modern F1 – Rick won the class with 27 points, driving his white Honda F1 to two heat wins. Steve was second at 26 points, with two heat wins using his white Honda F1. Chuck got third place at 25 points, controlling his red Ferrari F1. Joe won one heat with a borrowed Team USA F1-A1 car.

Class points – Gary 14, Rick 27, Steve 26, Paul 17, Chuck 25, Joe 18


LMP ( LeMans Prototypes ) – Rick took top honors driving his yellow Porsche RS Spyder, winning three heats and tallying up 29 points. Steve claimed second place at 28 points, with his white Porsche RS Spyder winning one heat. Paul was third at 23 points, winning two heats with his silver and red Audi R10.

Class points – Gary 17, Rick 29, Steve 28, Paul 23, Chuck 16, Joe 13


GT – Paul won with 29 points, taking four heats with his orange Ford GT. Steve was second with 28 points using his white Ford GT. Gary got third place with 26 points, winning two heats with his green Viper.

Class points – Gary 26, Rick 13, Steve 28, Paul 29, Chuck 15, Joe 15


Rally – Steve won this slippery class with 25 points, using his Ferrari 308 GTB and winning two heats. Paul skidded his way into second place at 24 points, winning two heats with his orange 4WD Peugeot 307. Joe was third place, tail-sliding a Seat Leon to 23 points with one heat win. Chuck won one heat with his blue 4WD Subaru WRX.

Class points – Gary 13, Rick 20, Steve 25, Paul 24, Chuck 21, Joe 23


Monogram – Paul won with his orange BMW 320i and getting 26 points, winning four heats. Rick was second place at 25 points, driving his blue Corvette Grand Sport. Steve took third place at 23 points, using his blue King Cobra. Chuck won one heat piloting his gold BMW 320i.

Class points – Gary 17, Rick 25, Steve 23, Paul 26, Chuck 20, Joe 15


NASCAR – Gary topped the field with 25 points, winning one heat with his white Chiquita Banana car. Rick got second place at 24 points, with his white “Moon Pie” car. Joe was third at 23 points, winning three heats with a no.48 Lowe’s car.

Class points – Gary 25, Rick 24, Steve 19, Paul 20, Chuck 15, Joe 23


Over-all Points – Gary 139, Rick 161, Steve 167, Paul 158, Chuck 135, Joe 123


Next Week:

Fine Scale Hobbies will be closed April 10, and I think Gary said they would also be closed the following weekend, but I’m not sure. Check the Race Schedule calendar for the updated openings.
