Testing at Dixie Slot Car Speedway in Russellville, Alabama

As many of you already know, two of our club members have decided to open their own track. Howard and Rick had been driving from the Florence area every Saturday to race and now they have a track of their own, closer to home. a few of us hit the road to Russellville, AL to do some test racing on Dixie Slot Car Speedway's mammoth 6-lane track. Members that went were Steve, Chuck, Paul, and Gary, accompanied by Margret.

Howard and Rick are not officially open for business just yet, but hope to be in a week or so. The test racing event was neccasary so that they could make sure the track was ready for their future Grand Opening.

The hallmark of the track was its two monster straights. I'm not sure how long exactly they are but I think it's closw to 40 feet each. The cars topped out quickly, making for some fairly intense drag races down those long stretches. I don't have time to go into all the details of the track but let me just say it performed great.

The facility itself is large and roomy, with plenty of seating for drivers and spectators. They have a few finishing touches to do to the facility and within a week the slot car duo plan to have their second track in place, just in time for their Grand Opening. I am told it will be a smaller track, in an oval configeration.

We are excited for Howard and Rick and forseen future trips over to Russellville for some great racing.
I don't have a phone number or a race schedule yet but will post as soon as I know.
The address for Dixie Slot Car Speedway is:
1631 Oak St.
